MY FAVORITE CDS - 2006/01/22 21:47 Anybody got any new music for me? Here are some of my recent favorites:

Wilco - Kicking Television: Live in Chicago
This is one of the best live cds I have ever heard. If you have heard of Wilco, but don't get the hype, buy this cd and you will get it right from the first song.

Kanye West - Late Registration
I don't listen to much rap, but this is a great cd and will no doubt win another grammy for album of the year.

The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan
Probably my favorite album of the year and the best concert I have seen in years. The whole show I just watched one guy with a guitar and I just kept thinking, "This must of been kinda of what it was like to see Elvis." A one man rock show and worth every penny.

System of a Down - Mesmerize/Hypnotize
This band hooked up with the best producer in rock (Rick Rubin) and he gave them the pop hooks they were missing. Great stuff.

Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine (reissued)
Not a new cd, but they reissued it this year and I got to discover it all over again. I loved it in high school and it holds up over time.

Re:MY FAVORITE CDS - 2006/08/04 14:30 If you like Wilco, check out Golden Smog. Alt country supergroup including Tweedy, Gary Louris from the Jayhawks among others. They just released a new one in July, though thier first two discs "Down by the Old Mainstream" an "Wierd Tales" are more Tweedy heavy.

Dylan has a new album coming out on Aug. 29 which is sure to be amazing. May I also suggest The Band. Thier first album, "Music From Big Pink", and thier self titled second are among the best in rock 'n' roll history! The Band was Dylan's backing band on tour in '66 when he changed the face of music as we know it!
They draw heavily on many styles of American music. Roots, Blues, Jazz, Country (not the stupid Nashville stuff), Rock and Americana. Serious music fans should check out thier 5 disc + dvd box set, if you have an extra 90 dollars laying around.
