If you like Wilco, check out Golden Smog. Alt country supergroup including Tweedy, Gary Louris from the Jayhawks among others. They just released a new one in July, though thier first two discs "Down by the Old Mainstream" an "Wierd Tales" are more Tweedy heavy.
Dylan has a new album coming out on Aug. 29 which is sure to be amazing. May I also suggest The Band. Thier first album, "Music From Big Pink", and thier self titled second are among the best in rock 'n' roll history! The Band was Dylan's backing band on tour in '66 when he changed the face of music as we know it!
They draw heavily on many styles of American music. Roots, Blues, Jazz, Country (not the stupid Nashville stuff), Rock and Americana. Serious music fans should check out thier 5 disc + dvd box set, if you have an extra 90 dollars laying around.
